Join Saeed Abbas and the Gye Nyame Ensemble for a high-energy evening! Fresh from their performance at Northwest Folklife in Seattle, this energetic, electrifying group honors the authentic integrity of West African cultural arts, bringing the music and dance of Ghana to people of all ages. Through talking drums and colorfully costumed dancers, you’ll experience the intoxicating rhythm of far away Africa.

The group is led by Saeed Abbas, who learned his art while still a child from his grandfather and the elders of the Hausa tribe in Ghana. At the young age of 19 he became Master Drummer of Ghana’s National Dance Ensemble, performing all over the world before such famous audiences as the Queen of England and U.S. President Bill Clinton.

Saeed brought his usual enthusiasm and energy to this incredible event getting the audience involved. No way I could have stayed in my seat feeling the pulse of these rhythms. Saeed is truly a master. I hope he makes it back to the West coast soon. Here’s a review from World Music Central. Enjoy!
