Description
The carbon monoxide content of exhaust gases is measured by Maserati component number 670153175 rear lambda sensors, which then transmits that data to the engine management unit (ECU). Using this data, the ECU modifies the air-fuel ratio to minimize emissions and make sure the engine is operating as effectively as possible.
The exhaust manifold houses the rear lambda sensors following the catalytic converter. To increase their precision, they are heated to a high temperature. A tiny ceramic element inside the sensors generates a voltage when it comes into contact with oxygen. The voltage output from the sensor decreases as the amount of oxygen in the exhaust flow increases.
The ECU determines whether the engine is running rich (too much fuel, not enough oxygen) or lean (too much oxygen, not enough fuel) based on the voltage output from the rear lambda sensors. The air-fuel ratio is then modified by the ECU appropriately.
Your rear lambda sensors may not be functioning correctly if you are exhibiting any of the following symptoms:
The check engine light is illuminated.
reduced fuel efficiency.
elevated emissions.
idling rough.
reduced engine output.
This part is known to suit the following Maserati models: Maserati GranTurismo (2007 – 2019),Maserati GranCabrio (2010 – 2019),Maserati Quattroporte (2005 – 2017),Maserati Levante (2016 – present).
